Description

The Genelec 8050B is a powerful bi-amplified monitoring system, capable of a sound pressure level of 120 dB SPL per pair, with a frequency response down to 35 Hz. The ISS (Intelligent Signal Sensing) function reduces the system's power consumption to less than 0.5 watts by automatically putting the monitor in standby mode when no signal is detected on the inputs for a certain period of time. As soon as an audio input signal is detected, the system is instantly reactivated. This ISS function is compatible with new EU regulations and the ErP 2013 Directive that regulates the energy consumption of electronic equipment. It is an excellent tool for large recording studios, broadcast and surround installations, mastering studios, post-production, and TV. The sophisticated active crossover filter features versatile controls to best adapt the speaker's response to the listening environment. Each driver is powered by a dedicated low-distortion amplifier with a dedicated protection circuit. The reflex port has been designed to provide clear and defined bass, free from distortion, compression, or noise. The combination of the waveguide control, Genelec Directivity Control Waveguide™ (DCW™), rounded corners, and the subtle curvature of both the front and the cabinet, MDE™ (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure™), results in a surprisingly flat frequency response, both on and off-axis. Another great advantage is extremely precise and detailed imaging and minimal listening fatigue. The mounting of the 8050B is made simple by the Iso-Pod™ (Isolation Positioner/Decoupler™): supports capable of eliminating any sound coloration by decoupling the monitor from the surface on which it is placed. Iso-Pod™ also allows the monitor to be angled to perfectly aim it on-axis towards the listener. Additional rear support points for floor or wall stands, as well as an M10 hole on the base, complete the positioning options.
