In collaboration with legendary luthier Roger Rossmeisl, Leo produced several exclusive acoustic models that embodied the character that made Fender a symbol of the rock'n'roll revolution, including the unmistakable headstock shapes, easy-to-play neck profiles, and radical styling, forever changing the face of Fender Acoustics. Today, the Fender California Vintage models directly hark back to their mid-century origins with a retro look, adding 21st-century performance and a rich, refined acoustic sound, a true modern alternative that carries on the classic Fender legacy.

Designed with innovative Performance-X™ bracing, the comfortable concert body of the Fender California Vintage Malibu is crafted with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid ovangkol back and sides, which naturally produce a sweet, focused voice with exceptional balance and nuance. An ergonomic modern "V" profile was chosen for the okoume neck with a short 25" (63.5 cm) scale for a warm tonal response, and an angled headstock with 6 in-line tuners with maple overlay for a distinctive look that harks back to the DNA of Fender electric guitars. Other important details include the ovangkol fingerboard with binding and retro-looking pearloid block inlays, vintage-style tuners for precise and smooth tuning, and bone nut and saddle for superior harmonic character. Designed to meet every performer's need, the Fishman® Sonitone Plus preamp system offers soundhole-mounted controls that blend an under-saddle piezo pickup with an internal body transducer to allow for faithful and reliable reproduction of the guitar's natural sound when connected to an amplifier or recording device. A vintage-style hard case is included.
