Bassist Sean Hurley has certainly made his mark in Los Angeles, playing bass on tour and in the studio for John Mayer, while maintaining an astounding pace as an in-demand studio bassist with the likes of Ringo Starr, Annie Lennox, Robin Thicke, Alanis Morissette, Vertical Horizon, and Colbie Caillat. Hurley recently laid down the low end on Mayer's "Born and Raised" and the latest release, "Paradise Valley," with his worn-out '61 Fender Precision Bass.

The Fender Custom Shop now reproduces Hurley's favorite Precision Bass in three colors: Three-color Sunburst, Olympic White, and Charcoal Frost. When we were specifying Hurley's original bass, we noticed a piece of foam he had inserted under the strings, in front of the bridge, to mute them, so we designed a special Fender mute that can be easily inserted at any time during a song, a feature never before seen on a Fender bass.
