The Fender® American Vintage II series presents a remarkably accurate rendition of the revolutionary designs that changed the course of music history. The Jazzmaster® was originally advertised as the guitar containing “all the famous Fender innovations,” in which “all the advantages are present.” Designed to provide a high-level “playing experience” and to tempt jazz guitarists to switch to a solidbody electric guitar, this futuristic offset with a supremely comfortable profile is as far as one can imagine from a boxy archtop. Perhaps predictably, the guitar did not win over jazz musicians but was quickly embraced by surf musicians in the 1960s, and later by indie-rock, alternative, and even country guitarists.

The American Vintage II 1966 Jazzmaster features a comfortable “C”-profile maple neck with unbeatable playability, a round-lam (i.e., concave bottom) rosewood fretboard with a 7.25” radius, and vintage-height frets. Characteristic of 1966 production, this guitar is offered with white neck binding, rectangular mother-of-pearl block inlays, in-line “Fender Deluxe” tuners, and a matching headstock (for custom colors only). The patented floating tremolo, adjustable bridge with threaded saddles, and Pure Vintage ‘66 Jazzmaster pickups, wired to create the unmistakable rhythm and lead circuits, produce classic tones and all the feel of a true Fender.
