The Fender® American Vintage II series presents a particularly accurate reinterpretation of the revolutionary designs that changed the course of music history. Crafted with historically accurate bodies, necks, and hardware, high-class finishes, and with maximum attention to sound, with year-specific pickups, each instrument captures the essence of the most authentic Fender craftsmanship and tones.

The late '50s and early '60s represent a watershed period in the development of the Precision Bass®, a transitional moment that saw the introduction of many new features that would become synonymous with the P-Bass®. By 1960, the P-bass design shed its earlier Telecaster®-derived features: the P-bass now had a Strat®-style headstock, comfortable sculpted contours, pickguard-mounted electronics, and a 4-saddle bridge. Finished in 3-Color Sunburst and completed with a 4-ply tortoiseshell pickguard, the 1960 Precision Bass introduced a more refined and long-lasting aesthetic to the model.

With a high-quality alder body, Pure Vintage '60 Split-Coil P-Bass pickups, and a sturdy Canadian maple neck with a “C” profile and slab rosewood fretboard with a 7.25” radius, the American Vintage II 1960 Precision Bass reproduces the unmistakable "tone & feel" of the original.
