The Epiphone Les Paul Standard Tribute Plus honors Epiphone's history and its collaboration with Les Paul, who long ago, while still working at Epiphone in New York, created the first solidbody electric guitar. Over the years, Les Paul continued to collaborate with Gibson and Epiphone, offering suggestions and proposing innovations. The Epiphone Les Paul Standard Tribute Plus combines many of these improvements into an instrument that incorporates all the quality and tradition of Gibson and Epiphone.

Solid woods, set neck - The heart of the Les Paul Standard Tribute Plus is a solid mahogany body and a carved flamed maple top, to best "capture" the typical Les Paul tone, warm and aggressive at the same time. It is clear that the set neck increases the sustain and stability of the instrument: the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Tribute Plus features a neck joint that extends deeply, up to the level of the neck pickup cavity, creating a continuity between the body and the neck.

A vintage sound - Construction quality, quality woods are only part of the equation. Capturing the sound of the Les Paul Standard Tribute are a pair of original Gibson USA '57 Classic and '57 Classic Plus humbuckers. These pickups are an "updated" replica of the original PAFs: they feature Alnico II magnets, wax potting, and the typical rich and aggressive Gibson Vintage sound. That's not all: for greater versatility, the guitar is equipped with 2 push/pull controls to split the 4-conductor pickups between series and parallel connection.
