The new Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO guitars feature a solid mahogany body with an AAA flame maple top, which are the typical materials used for the "real" Les Paul. The body is enhanced with single-ply cream binding for a fantastic vintage look. Like all Epiphone Les Pauls, the Standard Plustop PRO has a 14° angled headstock compared to the neck, in order to increase pressure on the nut, enhancing sustain without needing string trees that alter the sound. The mahogany neck has a 24.75" scale, a 12" radius, and a 1960s SlimTaper™ profile. The rosewood fretboard is adorned with "trapezoid" style inlays, while the 22 frets are modern medium jumbo.

In terms of electronics, the Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO is equipped with the new Pro-Bucker™ pickups. Thanks to Alnico II magnets (the same used for the original Gibson PAFs), these generate a warm and full-bodied sound. A Pro-Bucker-2™ is positioned at the neck, while a Pro-Bucker-3™ is at the bridge, offering higher output. Both pickups feature coil-tapping, activatable via the push/pull volume knob for each pickup.
