KORG electribe 2 BL MUSIC PRODUCTION STATION

The fastest and most intuitive way to produce beats. A music production tool based on analog physical modeling.

The electribe series continues to evolve

New blue model - a nod to the history of the Electribe - Following the grey model, the lineup introduces the new blue galvanized metal model reminiscent of the classic ELECTRIBE MX. Numerous backlit LEDs complete the appealing aesthetic.

System update rich in new features - Updates allow us to constantly evolve the Electribe series. Version 2 of the operating system introduces "undo" and "pattern chain" functions. Users who already own or will purchase electribe 2 and electribe Sampler (the grey and black ones) can update the instruments' operating system and take advantage of these new functions.

Over 200 Patterns available for download - Artists, sound designers, and beat makers from around the world have created bonus patterns for the Electribe series, complete with new sounds, musical phrases, and sequences. These patterns include sound patches, drum kits, and patterns usable in various electronic music contexts. Intended as reference material, these patterns can become the starting point for your first beat-making experience, or a source of new inspiration for your productions.

Simplified interaction and sound design thanks to potentiometers - Powerful sound engine based on analog models and PCM sounds - Numerous filter types for sculpting sound - Modulation section for developing evolving sounds - Wide selection of insert effects to add the final touch to parts and patterns

From inspiration to pattern creation in the blink of an eye - Velocity-sensitive trigger pads and X/Y touch pad for note input and melody generation - Motion Sequence function for recording parameter movements (automations) - Last Step selector to create particular and unusual rhythmic patterns in real time - Groove: to give percussive patterns that touch of realism that never hurts

From the studio to the stage, total control of your patterns - Control sequences in real time without compromise - Use Pattern Set and Pattern Chain to organize and manage complete arrangements - Apply effects in real time by interacting with the X/Y touch pad - Sync, MIDI, and Audio In for integration into any setup

Finalize your sequences professionally - Interoperability with Ableton Live: export patterns in Ableton format - Event recorder: capture your performances as you play them live

Electribe 2 BL (blue) is a groove box based on a powerful synthesis engine that allows you to transform your ideas into music extremely quickly, thanks to numerous analog-inspired oscillators and a rich variety of filters. All operations, from sound selection to editing, can be performed easily using the potentiometers available on the instrument's panel. Programming and creating rhythms, bass lines, and melodies are also simplified by the different interfaces (touch pad, pads, step sequencer, MIDI IN) available, allowing you to quickly create your sequences in a few simple steps.

Sequences created with the Electribe can further evolve live or within your computer, by connecting via MIDI or analog sync to other instruments, or by exporting sequences in Ableton Live format so that they can then be modified and finalized within the famous DAW software. The recent version 2 of the operating system introduced the much-requested pattern chain function, which extends the sequencer's potential for both live performance and music production. Aesthetically, the Korg Electribe also looks more attractive, thanks to the new blue metal panel. New additional patterns also increase the instrument's sonic potential.

The possibility of turning your ideas into beats takes shape. Here is the electribe, a synthesizer + sequencer optimized to speed up the composition and production phases of electronic music.

Sound Design facilitated by potentiometers

Powerful analog model + PCM synthesis engine

The Electribe's sound engine features 55 different oscillators reproduced based on analog models, offering unparalleled flexibility in the world of groove boxes. You can select simple waveforms, from sawtooth to pulse, from triangular to sinusoidal, or opt for more complex variations like Sync, Ring Mod, Cross Mod, and VPM. All parameters have been meticulously selected to give you maximum satisfaction with minimal editing. This means you only need to select an oscillator and turn the potentiometers to create sinuous bass lines, powerful polyphonic leads, enveloping pads, and any other synthesis sound you need. The PCM wavetable allows you to draw from 257 essential drum and percussion samples for beat production, 44 sampled instruments such as piano, organs, brass, guitars, and a selection of 52 sounds including sound effects and vocal samples. Another important evolution in the Electribe is polyphony, indispensable for certain musical genres that require complex chords and harmonic progressions such as soulful and more refined House music.

Numerous filters to sculpt your sounds

Filters play a fundamental role in sound design, as they can drastically alter the sound reproduced by the oscillators. In addition to the new filters specifically produced for the new Electribe series, among the 16 available algorithms are those developed from the physical models of historical synthesizers: MS-20, MG, P5, OB, and Acid. By selecting one of these filters and adjusting the cutoff and resonance parameters, you can unleash your creativity.

Modulation section for creating evolving sounds

Modulations significantly enrich a sound or a track, but they are often difficult to implement due to their complexity and parameters that are not easy to interpret. In the Electribe, modulation sources such as envelope (EG) and LFO are already assigned to destinations such as filter cutoff and oscillator pitch. Korg has condensed the management of Electribe's modulation into just 3 parameters: selection of one of the 72 templates that include the effect (source) and what it is to be applied to (destination), adjustment of the modulation speed, and control over its influence on the original sound.

Rich selection of effects for individual parts and patterns

The new Korg Electribe is equipped with 32 insert effects applicable to each individual part, including compressor, EQ, and overdrive, allowing you to adequately manipulate each individual sound used in your pattern.

From inspiration to pattern creation in moments

Input or play notes via velocity-sensitive pads, or generate phrases via the touch pad

For each part (sound), the electribe allows you to compose musical phrases by entering notes on 64 steps (16 steps X 4). You can create a base by combining up to 16 parts for each pattern. The step sequencer is extremely intuitive. The 16 trigger pads and the X/Y touch pad operate in various ways to adapt to your musical theory knowledge and your compositional needs in producing rhythmic parts and melodic phrases.

< Trigger pad >

Trigger Mode: This is ideal for listening to sounds associated with individual parts before entering sequencer mode. The pads are velocity-sensitive, and by rhythmically striking them, you can play drum and percussion patterns realistically.

Sequencer Mode: This mode is perfect for programming rhythmic parts. Each pad acts as one of the 16 steps that make up a pattern. You can record step-by-step, or insert or remove notes from the sequence.

Keyboard Mode: When you want to play melodies, this is the most appropriate operating mode. The 16 pads become keys on a keyboard, respecting the scale, root note, and octave settings you apply.

Chord Mode: In this mode, each pad generates a chord. You can play and add chords to your sequence, which will respect the applied scale settings.

< Touch pad >

Gate Arp Mode: This operating mode of the X/Y touch pad is very useful for reproducing bass lines or hi-hat patterns. You can interact with the touch pad while playing the trigger pads, to create melodic rhythmic arpeggios or fills.

Touch Scale Mode: If you can't play the keyboard, or if you want to experiment, this is the right mode. As in the Kaossilator, by moving your fingers along the horizontal axis of the touch pad, you can generate melodies that will respect the scale and root note settings you have applied.

Korg electribe allows sound editing and sequence input in parallel: create your sequence and adjust the sounds as you listen. An efficient way to produce beats, much more convenient and immediate than using DAW software, as when you turn on the instrument, everything will be at your fingertips in a single intuitive working environment.

Motion Sequence: record automations in real time

The Motion Sequence function allows you to record and reproduce potentiometer movements, thus automating editing parameters.

Last Step to generate unusual time divisions

The Last Step function allows you to vary in real time the number of reproducible steps in the sequence of the selected part. The aim is to reproduce unusual and unconventional rhythmic patterns by assigning a different step duration to each part's pattern.

Groove for a more human and natural feel

There are 25 groove templates to choose from for each part, selecting the one most suitable for the interpretive technique of percussive lines played by instruments like congas and bongos. By selecting a groove type and adjusting its dynamics, you can develop more credible rhythmic patterns, overcoming the classic quadrature of 16-step sequencers.

From the studio to the stage, total control of your Patterns

Real-time and uncompromising control of sequences

Sequences programmed on the Electribe come alive during your live performances. For example, by using the Step Jump function, you can quickly move from one step to another by simply pressing the dedicated pad. The Electribe allows you to play via the trigger pads and the touch pad and to record even during your on-stage performances; it's impossible to play a wrong note once the scale and key note are set. In live use, the Electribe doesn't limit you to just playing programmed sequences, but allows you to express yourself by modifying them in real time, applying effects, filters, and all the other unique functions designed for live use.

Pattern Set and Pattern Chain to create complete arrangements

With the Pattern Set function, you assign your favorite sequences to the trigger pads, to quickly switch from one pattern to another by simply pressing the corresponding pad. While playing, you can change the sequence to vary, for example, the backing track. Version 2.0 of the operating system introduces the new Pattern Chain function, with which you can sequence multiple patterns to create longer, more extended arrangements.

X/Y Touch Pad for effect control

You can use the Touch Pad to control the Master multi-effect as if it were a Kaoss Pad. From spatial resonance effects to loopers to add that extra touch to your sequences, or "Seq Reverse" or "Odd Stepper" to radically change the sound of your patterns. An incredible added value to your performances.

Sync, MIDI, and Audio inputs and outputs for integration into any setup

Thanks to the sync input, you can easily synchronize with other Korg (and other brands') analog instruments or groove boxes. You can connect the electribe to the electribe sampler, to a product from the Volca series, or to the SQ-1. The MIDI IN and OUT ports, and USB MIDI also allow interconnection with DAW software installed on your computer and with other MIDI-compatible instruments.

Electribe also comes with an audio input. By connecting an external source and selecting "Audio In" as the oscillator, you can process the audio reproduced by it through the integrated filter and effects.

In the past, live setups based on hardware instruments required numerous synthesizers, samplers, and sequencers. Today, with the Electribe, you can fulfill many of these roles by using it as a primary element in a chain of instruments, or as an additional instrument for your performances. The integrated sequencer can receive notes played or recorded from keyboards and transmit them to other MIDI instruments. Feel free to experiment with chaining it to other instruments.

Add the finishing touch to your musical sequences

Interoperability with Ableton Live for an optimized workflow

Using your favorite DAW software, you can collect, organize, and develop the various bases created in the Electribe until they become complete tracks. KORG has collaborated with the German company Ableton's team to offer users optimized and fast project sharing between the hardware instrument and Live software. In addition to classic audio export, the new Electribes feature export in "Ableton Live" format. Once the file is opened within the software, you will find the audio of each part on separate tracks of the project so that you can modify, edit, add effects, record new parts, and proceed to the final mixing and mastering of your track. Included with Korg Electribe is a LITE version of Ableton Live* software.

Ableton Live Lite can be downloaded here ->

Event Recorder records your performances

Everything you do with the electribe in real time, including interaction with the trigger pads and the touch pad, can be recorded thanks to the Event Recorder function. Recorded performances are saved in the Electribe's native format and can therefore be reproduced at any time, even instantly directly from the Electribe itself.

Battery power

The Korg electribe can be used without mains power, in any situation, including while traveling, thanks to the dedicated slot that can accommodate 6 AA batteries.

Technical Specifications

Sound Engine

Type: Analog modeling sound engine + PCM
Maximum Polyphony: 24 voices.
