The D-28 Sunburst (2025) is the Dreadnought acoustic guitar from Martin & Co.'s "Standard" series in the particular 1935 Sunburst finish, crafted with a Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back and sides, selected Hardwood neck, and Ebony fretboard. It features GE-Scalloped bracing for greater brightness and sound projection, a further lowered GE Modified Low Oval neck profile, and a more chamfered heel, neck, and bridge for increased comfort, along with bone bridge pins. It has a 44.45 mm nut width, a 645 mm scale length, and a gloss finish on the top, back, and sides.

After almost a century at the forefront, the epitome of musical legends like Hank Williams, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and many others, the legendary D-28 has been lovingly and artfully updated.
"The post-WWII D-28 looked slightly different from its predecessor and became the focal point of the folk and folk-rock movements at their peak in the 50s and 60s," says Chris Martin, President and CEO of Martin Guitar, adding "We took the best features of the D-28 from my grandfather's era and my father's era."
The new D-28 combines the rich history of the guitar with Martin's latest and most acclaimed innovations. The 184-year-old guitar maker has brought together vintage features, including open-gear tuners, an aged finish, antique white distinctive elements, and a tortoise pickguard.
One of the main novelties of the 2025 Standard series is the use of Golden Era (GE) Sitka spruce bracing for the soundboard, a detail also present in the Modern Deluxe series, which gives a more vintage and airy tone with enhanced sustain. The modified "Low Oval" GE neck profile maintains the classic shape but has been optimized to offer a vintage appeal. The fretboard has been thinned and features rounded edges for greater comfort, while the string spacing at the nut has been perfected. The new GE "modern belly" bridge has softer and more comfortable angles. Standard Series guitars are now equipped with bone or ebony bridge pins, depending on the model. Among the aesthetic updates are the elongated neck diamond, an angled nut, and a more articulated, vintage-style heel.
