Description

Costalab Medusa Patch Box

MEDUSA is a compact and functional patch box for guitarists and bassists.

Inside, electro-mechanical automatisms facilitate the connections of the devices present in the pedalboard, simplifying the wiring work and reducing the number of cables.

MEDUSA is equipped with 2 Mono and 2 Stereo lines, in addition to 1 5-pin DIN connection (all connected) which can be used for MIDI signals, but also for any service connection.

The connections, isolated from each other, avoid annoying ground loops.

The compactness of the product (a 1590B pedal box) allows you to group the connections in a small space, bringing order and logic to the wiring work.

Last but not least, MEDUSA's light weight will not add to the total weight of your pedalboard.

Specifications

2/4 wire automation

The pre-section (compressors/OD/distortions) is separated from the effects section (modulation/delay/reverbs).

Using two cables, everything is connected in series from the first to the last pedal. Using four cables, the effects are in the amplifier's send/return section, while the pre-effects are connected to the front.

2/4 wire automation + DIN footswitch

The effects are connected as in the previous example. Furthermore, via the DIN connector, a complex footswitch with multiple buttons controls the different amplifier functions.

Stereo Amplification

The effects are connected in series, the output is stereophonic for two amplifiers. Using only one output connector (Amp IN), the stereo signals are summed to return to mono on a single amplifier.

Amp Footswitch

All effects are connected in series, the upper connection (stereo) is used to connect the amplifier's channel change footswitch (stereo).

Controller

MIDI Controller

The effects are connected via a controller/switcher, which controls the channel change of an amplifier via MIDI. The outputs are connected in stereo.

MIDI Controller + service signals

The effects are connected via a controller/switcher, the stereo outputs are used for service signals (channel change, activation of amplifier boost or reverbs). MIDI is wired to send or receive program or control changes.

MIDI Controller + FX loop

The effects are connected via a controller/switcher, with the possibility, through the controller's fixed loop, of separating the pre-amplification section from the effects.

Thus, by using only two cables, a series connection can be obtained, while by using four, separation with ambient effects in the amplifier's send/return is obtained.

The MIDI connection sends or receives control or program change signals.
