Description

COSTALAB ECHOLAB

The CostaLab EchoLab is a classic-style delay that produces an echo effect far removed from the overly precise and cold sound of modern delays.

The EchoLab is characterized by a warm sound, deliberately darkened in its repeats which, as they follow one another, provide exceptional depth, very similar to the effect produced by the old tape echoes used in the songs we love most.

And it is precisely thanks to this great depth that the EchoLab, when properly adjusted, can replace the use of reverb, as the guitar tradition of the 70s taught us.

The direct sound, on the other hand, is defined, present, and respects the tone of your instrument, maintaining excellent attack and an energetic "punch" without halos.

Functionally, the EcoLab features two delay time controls for setting the delay time. This allows for two distinct situations, selectable via the dedicated "Select" footswitch.

A two-color LED (red - green) indicates whether one or the other mode is enabled. The repeat and mix controls are common to both delay time settings.

There is also a push-button switch that allows you to switch from Vintage mode, with dark repeats, to Modern mode, which reproduces more precise and direct repeats.

The EchoLab can produce delays of approximately 750 ms in red mode and very short, perfectly intelligible repeats in green mode.

Thanks to its extreme care in construction and the careful selection of the best components, its circuit has excellent silence. The pedal features a "true bypass" switch, with the addition of an anti-pop filter.

The power supply is 9 volts DC and connects via the classic 2.1 mm DC connector with a center negative. The current consumption is less than 50 mA. The unit can also operate with a 9-volt battery. In this case, the circuit is activated by inserting the input jack.

To prolong battery life, it is advisable to remove the input jack from the socket when not in use. However, it is possible to keep the battery inside the pedal even when it is powered via the DC socket, because the external power system is able to automatically exclude it.

The pedal measures 118x98x34mm excluding knobs and jacks.
