Expand the number of analog inputs and outputs of your ADAT-equipped audio interface with Focusrite Clarett+ OctoPre, a 24bit/192kHz A-D/D-A converter featuring 8 preamplified inputs on combo connectors with AIR function, 8 balanced analog outputs on DB25, 2 optical ADAT inputs and outputs on TOSLINK connectors, Word Clock In & Out, and Insert connections for connecting external signal processors.

The 8 analog inputs of Focusrite Clarett+ Octopre

The 8 preamplified combo inputs offer automatic switching from Mic to Line: connect microphones to the Clarett+ Octopre with XLR connectors and line sources with ¼” Jacks. On each preamp, you'll find 48v phantom power, necessary when using condenser microphones. Two buttons allow you to activate/deactivate it in groups, for channels 1 to 4 and 5 to 8 respectively. The first two inputs, located on the front panel, offer the "instrument" option for directly connecting guitars and basses. Thanks to the high-impedance JFETs and extended frequency response on these two inputs, you'll get the best from your pickups.

Thanks to a dynamic range of 118dB and the extreme quietness of the preamplifiers (-129dBu EIN), the original signal of the connected input sources will remain natural and free of artifacts. The fully balanced path ensures sonic clarity, avoiding interference and noise to provide you with the professional sound that has always distinguished Focusrite outboard gear and preamps.

That extra touch for your recordings: AIR on every input

The fully analog, relay-controlled AIR circuit – integrated and individually activatable on each preamplified input – reproduces the behavior of the classic and highly acclaimed ISA110 preamplifier implemented in the iconic Focusrite Studio Console. When activated, the impedance of the microphone inputs changes from 6.2 to 2.2 kΩ with the typical frequency response variation, particularly noticeable when using dynamic microphones (ribbon or moving coil), vintage, but not only. At the same time, the Air mode also adds a boost (+4dB) to the mid/high frequencies (two cumulative shelving filters) while introducing a slight saturation on the harmonics. A very useful and appreciated function especially on vocals and acoustic instruments, but feel free to experiment with it on any sound source, even your synths!
