For over 25 years, the MT-2 Metal Zone pedal has been one of the most popular and influential pedals in the BOSS lineup, with sales second only to the legendary DS-1 Distortion. Built in Japan and filled with Waza Craft magic, the MT-2W takes this iconic stompbox to new levels of versatility and tonal richness. Standard mode offers an evolved version of the original mid-focused Metal Zone tone, while Custom mode introduces a new voice perfectly suited to today's diverse high-gain styles.

Metal Zone: a High-Gain Pedal Milestone

First introduced in 1991 and in continuous production ever since, the MT-2 Metal Zone is loved by guitarists worldwide for its character, rich distortion, and typical mid-range focus. Capable of producing a versatile repertoire of heavy tones, the MT-2's innovative dual-stage gain circuit has influenced many pedal designers over the years. Another standard feature is the revolutionary equalization with parametric mids, which offers the possibility to completely alter the sound to cover numerous high-gain styles. The pedal was also one of the first BOSS compacts to offer dual concentric knobs, for greater control without increasing size.

Like all Waza Craft pedals, the MT-2W enhances the original BOSS analog design with innovations that improve performance and versatility. The two-stage gain circuit features a carefully selected discrete component design that delivers even more defined, highest quality sound. The EQ has also been optimized with a softer mid-range tone and unique slope values, suited to the pedal's Standard and Custom modes.

Standard Mode: Metal Zone at its Best

Supported by the MT-2W's discrete component two-stage gain circuit, Standard mode takes the Metal Zone's famous mid-focused sound to new levels. The attack responds even more sensitively, and definition and clarity have also been improved. Noise has also been reduced, offering better performance when distortion reaches maximum levels.

Custom Mode: Vast and Fast

Activating the MT-2W's Custom mode, the pedal's tone becomes huge and broad, and is ideal for all of today's "heavier" styles. The tone is natural and open, with an increase in dynamics and a rounder low-mid range compared to Standard mode. Even with the highest gain settings, the bass remains full and fast, focused and well-defined, perfect for all dropped-tuning riffs. The sound returns clear and clean when you reduce the guitar volume, giving you an extremely balanced range of tones.
