The vintage BOSS CE-1 Chorus Ensemble and Roland RE-201 Space Echo are celebrated for the inspiring sounds of their effects. But they’re also loved for the variable circuitry of their analog preamps, which instantly infuse any guitar tone with character, body, and richness. With the BP-1W, you can now access these two classic preamp sounds in a premium Waza Craft pedal, along with a natural, transparent voice that works as a standard clean boost.

For generations, discerning guitarists have relied on foundational analog devices to enhance their core tone. Though production ended over 30 years ago, the CE-1 and RE-201 continue to be widely used by many players for their characterful preamps, as well as their famous analog effect sounds. These “secret weapons” make the sound richer, fuller, and even more enjoyable to play, even when their effect processing is bypassed. The BP-1W lets you integrate the magical tone-shaping properties of these legends into your rig without having to track down rare and expensive vintage originals.

The BP-1W is one of the most flexible boost pedals available, offering three unique operating modes in a single compact pedal. Along with the vintage CE and RE modes, a third mode provides a refined clean boost when you want to increase volume without adding color. The Gain knob allows you to create a range of saturation and drive tones peculiar to each mode, while the Level knob allows you to balance the effect/bypass sound, or push the inputs of pedals and amps for further tonal enhancement.

CE—This mode reproduces the sound of the CE-1 preamp, famous for its bright and pristine character, along with its fast low-end response. Use the Gain knob to bring to life a range of inspiring sounds, from subtle to aggressive.

RE—This mode reproduces the unique color and response of the RE-201 preamp circuitry. It adds body and warmth even at the lowest Gain settings, increasing saturation as the knob is turned up. Powerful distorted sounds with rich analog compression characteristics can be achieved, providing a basic vintage color to drive pedals and amplifiers.

NAT—Produces a natural and punchy voice with minimal coloration. Modern Waza Craft analog circuitry ensures a wide boost range, providing unbeatable performance for any standard clean boost application.

The BP-1W features high-quality buffer circuitry, with two selectable types. Slide the switch on the rear panel to choose between the pure signal of a standard buffer or a vintage buffer, with lower input impedance. The vintage type produces a warmer tone and a more linear dynamic response, with maximum benefits achieved by connecting a guitar with passive pickups directly to the BP-1W's input. The standard buffer is always active for signal conditioning when the pedal is bypassed, regardless of the buffer switch setting.
