It seems to suffer fewer intonation problems than the VB 24AW, although strong lips are needed to maintain intonation in the upper register, as the throat is so wide. Massive low registers: this transforms the sound of Eb tubas into a truly rich orchestral instrument. It is also an excellent mouthpiece for bands, as it produces a very luxurious and ‘melting’ sound.
