Arturia BeatStep Pro is a professional three-track hardware sequencer designed for advanced control of analog and modular synthesizers, MIDI instruments, and hybrid setups. It integrates two monophonic melodic sequencers and a dedicated drum sequencer, a control surface with 16 velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads, rotary encoders, a performance touch strip, and extensive MIDI, USB, and CV/Gate connectivity, making it a true central hub for production and live performance.

Melodic and Drum Sequencers: Deep Control for Every Step

BeatStep Pro is designed as a control center for external instruments, eliminating the need for a computer in many creative situations. The two monophonic melodic tracks allow for the creation of sequences up to 64 steps with independent parameters for each step, while the drum track enables multi-instrument rhythmic programming with direct control via pads. The approach is distinctly performance-oriented: everything is accessible from the front panel, without complex menus.

Control Surface and Performance Interaction

The BeatStep Pro surface is built around 16 backlit, velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads, used for both step input and drum sequencer rhythmic programming. The pads can send notes, MIDI data, and dedicated Gate signals, offering immediate feedback during performance.
Rotary controls allow for real-time editing of pitch, velocity, gate time, and other parameters for each track. The integrated touch strip introduces real-time roller, looper, and arpeggio functions, enabling rhythmic and creative variations directly during live performance.

Connectivity and Synchronization

BeatStep Pro is designed to connect to virtually any musical ecosystem. CV/Gate outputs allow direct control of analog and modular synthesizers, while the 8 dedicated drum Gate outputs offer separate control for percussive modules. MIDI In and Out connections, combined with the USB port, allow integration with DAWs and traditional MIDI hardware.

Synchronization management includes multiple clocks and master/slave modes, allowing DAWs, MIDI instruments, and modular systems to be kept aligned within the same setup, both in the studio and on stage.

Firmware 2.0 and Advanced Workflow

With firmware update 2.0, BeatStep Pro introduces advanced features such as polyrhythmic mode, pattern chain creation and saving, synchronization optimization, and new operating modes for the touch strip. These enhancements reinforce BeatStep Pro's role as a benchmark among compact hardware sequencers.
