Description

Arturia AudioFuse X8 IN is an ADAT converter/expander that adds 8 balanced line channels to any interface equipped with an ADAT IN port, with A/D conversion up to 24-bit/96kHz, switchable –12dB pad per channel, stereo Link management, and synchronization via ADAT or Word Clock on BNC. Frequency response (A/D) 20Hz–20kHz ±0.06dB (typ), dynamic range 119dB (A-weighted): designed to keep synths, outboard gear, and line-level sources always connected without changing cabling.

Why AudioFuse X8 IN

AudioFuse X8 IN adds eight balanced 1/4" TRS jack line inputs and digitally transports them over a single ADAT cable, maintaining an essential setup: no drivers, no routing, just 8 separate channels ready for recording.

8 analog inputs always ready, via ADAT.

Connect synths, drum machines, external processors, or submixes from a mixer and bring everything into your DAW software via the optical Toslink ADAT outputs. At 44.1/48kHz, the entire 8-channel stream travels over a single cable; at 88.2/96kHz, transmission uses S/MUX and splits the channels over two cables (1-4 and 5-8).

Headroom and conversion quality

The inputs accept levels up to +24dBu: a choice consistent with professional outboard gear and line-level sources. The -12dB pad per channel helps manage particularly powerful signals without saturation, while the A/D converters work up to 96kHz for precise and consistent transient acquisition.
Quick front panel controls: PAD, LINK, and metering. The front panel is designed to be operational even without a computer: LED metering with color states (green/orange/red) to quickly check for signal presence and clipping, channel selection with arrows, PAD on/off, and LINK function to pair channels 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8. LINK is useful when working with stereo sources (L/R) and you want to intervene identically on both channels (including pad) without risking misalignment.

Clock and integration with digital systems

In studios with multiple digital devices, sync quality is a fundamental element: Arturia AudioFuse X8 IN can send clock via ADAT or receive external Word Clock from the BNC input. The HiZ/75Ω selector allows for correct termination at the end of the chain. Typical example: synchronizing two X8 INs with an interface equipped with Word Clock (like AudioFuse 16Rig) using a "T" connector and setting HiZ on the first expander and 75Ω on the last.

Installation: desktop or rack, uncompromising

The half-rack unit format with a robust metal casing allows for neat installation: as a desktop unit with integrated feet or in a rack, by placing two units side-by-side with the included hardware (rack ears + connection plate). This approach keeps the setup clean and scalable, ideal as your instrument collection grows.

Equipment and included software

The package includes a power supply with adapters for worldwide use and an assembly kit to mount two AudioFuse X8 units in the same rack space. In addition, a software bundle is provided to get started immediately with sounds and mixing tools: Analog Lab Intro and a selection of effects (preamps, filters, dynamics and mods).
