AKAI PRO APC64 is a USB MIDI controller for Ableton's Live software, featuring a matrix of 64 velocity-sensitive, poly-aftertouch backlit pads (8x8) that you can use to play Clips, play melodies and chords in "Notes" and "Chords" modes, or electronic drums in "Drum" mode. 8 fully assignable Touch Strips will allow you to control any parameter in real time: from track volumes in the mixer to virtual instrument, device and effect parameters. APC64 features an integrated step sequencer, which can be used without a computer to transmit sequences and melodies to the two MIDI OUT ports and the 8 CV/Gate outputs, to turn them into sound with your hardware synths and drum machines. A MIDI IN port is also included.

The Akai Professional APC64 is a perfect tool for music composition with Ableton Live or – without a computer – with your hardware synthesizers, including modular ones. You can compose melodies and chord progressions using the dedicated Notes and Chords modes that transform the 8x8 pad matrix into an expressive musical palette. When you need help finding inspiration, experiment with the Probability or Mutate functions to take your tracks in unexpected directions. Then immediately capture the results with the integrated 32-step sequencer that supports up to 8 separate tracks.

The 8 Touch Strips of the Akai APC64

You'll have everything at your fingertips and under control in the studio, and you can add expression to your live performances with the 8 Touch Strip controllers: assign and control vibrato, modulations, filter cutoff, and other parameters. Adjust volume or effects. Manage your mix while keeping everything under control thanks to the visual feedback of the APC64's color screen, which displays real-time information about what you're controlling and the parameter values.
