Joseph Hudson began working at the age of 12 in Birmingham's engineering workshops. He trained for 7 years as a toolmaker, learning to perform many tasks by hand that are now done by machines.

During these early years, he acquired the skills that made him an excellent metal craftsman, founding "J Hudson & Co Whistles Ltd" and the "ACME" brand in 1870.

Initially created to be distinguishable amidst the hustle and bustle of the Victorian industrial revolution, "ACME" whistles today lend themselves to a wide range of applications: hunting, sports, military, industrial, musical, and more. Maintaining tradition for over 150 years.

A storm or a breeze, the wind whistling around a building, or the puff of a steam train. This versatile whistle produces all these sound effects. Also bird calls like the magpie.
