Description

82C is the historic guitar string set from the Aquila Corde Armoniche Ambra 800 series. The set consists of rectified Super Nylgut trebles with representative diameters inspired by Segovia's trebles, and silver-plated copper basses wound on a special red multifilament called Rayon.

Overview of the Aquila Corde Armoniche Ambra 800 series for historic guitar

Until the mid-20th century, guitar strings consisted exclusively of gut trebles, while basses were silk-wound strings. The acoustic performance of such a setup was quite different from that of current sets. It was characterized by a marked tonal presence, attack, and brightness typical of the higher gut strings (certainly superior to nylon and in some ways more similar to PVDF or Carbon), while the basses, conversely, were exquisitely vocal in nature, in other words, less bright and persistent in sound than current nylon-wound basses and more centered on the fundamental. The Ambra 800 set was created following this historical observation and was specifically designed to best recreate, using the most modern synthetic materials, 'the sound' of the 19th century. The set comes in a single tension and consists of gut-colored Supernylgut trebles with a rectified surface, just as is done for gut strings (specifically imitating the surface of a gut treble belonging to guitarist Andrés Segovia), adopting the average representative diameters found during research. For the basses, which are silver-plated copper wound on a special red multifilament called 'Rayon', a balance between metal and core has been sought to precisely recreate the typical sound of the silk-wound strings of that era.

Specifications of the 82C Ambra 800 for historic guitar by Aquila Corde Armoniche

Diameters: E 1.12 - A 0.94 - D 0.76 - G 0.94 - B 0.78 - E 0.63
