70O Super Nylgut Arabic Oud is an 11-string Arabic oud set by Aquila Corde Armoniche with a gauging of 0.56-1.00w. It is characterized by a full, deep sound with enveloping low frequencies.

Overview of Aquila Corde Armoniche's 70O SuperNylgut Arabic Oud

The sets have a working tension of 3.4 Kg per string. The trebles are made of Supernylgut, while the basses are made with silver-plated copper wire (with the exception of the thirds for the Arabic and Turkish Oud sets, and the fourths for the Iraqi Oud set, which are made of a gray metallic alloy).

The third strings of the Arabic Oud (D) and Turkish Oud (E) sets, as well as the fourth strings of the Iraqi Oud (D) set, are normally made of wound strings that have always been difficult to produce using common available materials (silver-plated copper or varnished copper). To achieve the correct tone with the correct tensions, coating wires had to be used that were so fine that they led to rapid wear of the string, making it more fragile than the rest of the set. Thanks to constant research into materials, Aquila Corde offers two innovative solutions, guaranteeing at the same time excellent acoustic performance, great stability and resistance, and good balance with the rest of the set:

• The first solution, which is offered by default on all our sets, is a string coated with a highly resistant and performing metal wire, completely hypoallergenic, able to satisfy all those who are used to playing a wound string in that position;
• The second solution involves a synthetic string made with a special bio-plastic loaded with metal powder in order to increase its density. The synthetic string has a perfectly smooth, reddish-brown surface, and its performance is far superior to traditional wound strings.
