169C is the set of single treble strings for classical guitar from Aquila Corde Armoniche's Alabastro series with high tension.

Watch the video of Aquila Corde Armoniche's Alabastro classical guitar strings

Overview of Aquila Corde Armoniche's Alabastro series for classical guitar

Until the mid-20th century, the first three guitar strings were made almost exclusively of gut, a material used for millennia characterized by excellent attack readiness combined with a particularly bright tonal output: therefore substantially different from Nylon®. The timbre of gut has always been a constant reference point for luthiers, composers, and performers until the recent past. The development of a new synthetic product (both as monofilament and multifilament for the bass strings) that presented the same acoustic characteristics as gut (but not its typical defects) such as high cost, poor durability, and high instability to climatic changes has therefore always been a fundamental point of Aquila's research work. Nylgut® finally represents the culmination of this effort, allowing for the rediscovery of the sonorities that were familiar to the great masters of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as presenting excellent tuning stability, superior to that of the best Nylon® strings. Sets in three tension grades (Light, Normal, High) whose first three strings are made of Nylgut® 'synthetic gut' monofilament, perfectly round and smooth, which allows for attack readiness, acoustic projection, and tonal qualities reminiscent of gut, as well as presenting remarkably extraordinary tuning stability. These properties therefore allow for optimal sonic 'connection' with the wound bass strings. These consist of a Nylgut® multifilament core wound with silver-plated copper, characterized by high tensile strength and great stability to climatic changes, allowing for quick and stable tuning, excellent acoustic performance, and long string life. Similar to gut, Nylgut® is a material sensitive to cutting. Alabastro bass strings, wound with high-quality silver-plated copper, consist of a Nylgut multifilament core that ensures not only high tensile strength but also low absorption of atmospheric humidity and sweat. Before installing the strings, make sure that the grooves at the nut and bridge are shallow, perfectly smooth, and free of sharp edges. Otherwise, use 600-grit sandpaper or fine-grit steel wool.
