165U ThunderBrown is the string set for ukulele bass and 4-string short scale bass by Aquila Corde Armoniche, with gauges 2.40-4.00. The ThunderBrown strings are characterized by special homogeneity between treble and bass strings and have higher tension compared to other Thunder sets.

Compared to all traditional pure elastomer strings normally used in so-called 'Bass ukuleles', Thunderbrown strings have several advantageous factors:

• They do not exhibit the so-called 'sausaging effect' (strings pulled firmly with the hands permanently reduce their diameter).
• They are made for the first time from bio-elastomers of plant origin and not from petroleum derivatives.
• The metal added in micronized form is minimal in the first string and maximal in the fourth: this results in perfect acoustic and tonal homogeneity of the setup.
• The strings ensure perfect finger sliding for the left hand.
• The diameter is reduced to levels comparable to normal coated strings for acoustic bass.
• The acoustic power is such that they can be mounted on instruments with a normal soundboard and therefore played even without amplification.
• The string tension has been increased compared to our Thundergut, Thunderblack, and Thundereds strings.

Attention: Thunderbrown strings concentrate a high mass of copper powder added to a particularly elastic elastomer. The result is that their vibration envelope is particularly wide, similar to what happens with double basses when pure gut strings are mounted; this may mean having to raise the string height on the fretboard by acting on the bridge saddle.
