The bass strings are made with a special red protective coating, which ensures less noise under the fingers, no allergies to metals, and no oxidation, unlike common silver-plated copper strings. The sound of these strings is decidedly bright, clean, and clear to the touch, with great acoustic power. Unlike Fluorocarbon strings, these strings certainly possess excellent vibrato and significant tonal variation when played near the bridge and then towards the soundhole. Laboratory measurements have shown that Sugar strings have 18% more power in Joules and 24% more sustain than Fluorocarbon strings, respectively. Thanks to the new treatment, Aquila Corde has managed to eliminate 90% of cases with the "squeak" effect present in previous versions. These strings also contain the sweetness and singability typical of gut, but at the same time the clarity and attack readiness typical of Fluorocarbon.
