Produce and perform, in the studio or live with FL Studio. You can quickly navigate between the channel rack, browser, toolbar, and playlist menus without using a mouse. The OLED graphic display provides visual feedback for various files, menus, and parameters of your FL Studio session. Additionally, the transport buttons give you complete control over your music production.

A distinctive feature of Fire is the 4x16 matrix composed of 64 velocity-sensitive rubber mini pads with RGB backlighting. These represent the channels of FL Studio's channel rack. The selected channel is identifiable by a green light. To select another, simply hold down the "Alt" key while simultaneously pressing the mute/solo button corresponding to the desired channel. Channel selection can also be done by holding down "Alt" and rotating the "Select" potentiometer until the display shows the desired channel. Next to each channel, there is an "M" button which, when pressed, allows you to mute the corresponding track, while pressing it in conjunction with the "Shift" key will enable the "Solo" function.

The pad matrix can be configured in 4 different ways during your sessions. The Step Sequencer mode allows you to program your patterns, the Performance mode is dedicated to live sets and real-time remixing for playing MIDI and audio clips directly from the hardware, the Note mode corresponds to a MIDI keyboard for playing your instruments, and the Drum mode is the equivalent of a 16-pad controller-style layout for playing your beats or performing finger drumming.

The GRID buttons allow us to extend the pattern in Step Sequencer mode, while holding down one of the steps during pattern programming allows us to decouple it from the quantization grid and program it freely (for flam or swing, for example). In Note mode, however, these keys are used to extend the keyboard range, thus to go up and down octaves.

Fire has 4 pre-mapped rotary potentiometers to control as many parameters of the selected channel. These parameters are volume, pan, filter cut-off and resonance. You can move through banks, for example, select the Mixer bank; in this case, you will manage volume, pan and the low and high EQ of the selected track. Two additional banks (User bank 1 and 2) will give you access to the management of effect and plug-in parameters in real time, parameters that you will map yourself as you wish, to have those useful to you at hand. Fire allows you to manage transport commands directly from the hardware. Record, Stop, Play and a button to switch from pattern mode to song mode. By pressing "Shift", these buttons allow you to manage Loop Record, Countdown, Wait and the Metronome.

The Akai Professional Fire hardware controller for FL Studio is powered directly via USB from your computer. The package includes the Fire hardware, a USB cable, a quick start guide and a list of shortcuts and key combinations that will allow you to quickly learn how to use the product. You can use multiple Fire controllers connected to your computer simultaneously, up to 4 units, which will allow you to improve your workflow in the studio and have more functions at hand during your live performances. For example, with 4 FIRE controllers you can extend the pad matrix up to 32 steps for 8 tracks (8x32). A "Fruity Fire Edition" license of the FL Studio software will be provided via download with Akai Professional FIRE.
