Le manopole dei potenziometri sono state scelte dalla Divisione Elettrica di Gold Music con la stessa cura che si riserva a un dettaglio sartoriale: uno styling classico che riesce a fare il giro e risultare estremamente contemporaneo, senza la pretesa di sembrare moderni a tutti i costi. E qui entra in scena la scelta che più di ogni altra definisce il carattere di questa edizione: il finale di potenza è affidato a una coppia di valvole EL34. Chi frequenta il mondo delle valvole sa già cosa significa. Chi è alle prime armi lo scoprirà presto.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eLa 6L6GC, montata sulla Fireball 25 standard, è la valvola americana per eccellenza: risposta estesa nei bassi e negli alti, mids più arretrati, una pulizia e un punch che si prestano magnificamente alla precisione chirurgica del gain moderno. La KT77, montata sull'edizione limitata uscita in precedenza, è una creatura ibrida e muscolosa: un low end più corposo e scuro della EL34, dinamiche pronunciate, un carattere a metà strada tra il rigore americano e la morbidezza britannica. La EL34, invece, è la valvola europea per antonomasia, quella su cui si sono formate generazioni di chitarristi attraverso decenni di amplificatori britannici leggendari. Il suo tratto distintivo è una presenza nei medi che non si ottiene in nessun altro modo: ricca, compressa al punto giusto, capace di dare al gain quella texture vellutata e quella spinta armonica che trasformano una nota in emozione. Il sag è più pronunciato, la risposta meno geometrica rispetto alla 6L6, ma è proprio in quella leggerissima irregolarità che vive il carattere. Sul canale Lead della Fireball 25, che già nella versione standard è una macchina formidabile, le EL34 aggiungono uno spessore organico che rende ogni nota più viva, ogni accordo più presente nel mix, ogni assolo più espressivo.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eÈ il suono migliore del mondo? Ma c'è qualcosa che va oltre il numero, oltre l'esclusività da collezionista: la Fireball 25 Goldface è un oggetto che ha senso in ogni contesto in cui un chitarrista trascorre il suo tempo. Sul palco regge il confronto con qualsiasi cosa ci sia accanto, con quei 25 watt che nella pratica suonano come molti amplificatori più grandi (qualcuno ha detto modeler?) non riescono a fare. In salotto, con il power soak abbassato, diventa una compagnia quotidiana di lusso, il tipo di amplificatore che si accende anche quando non si ha niente di particolare da provare, solo per il piacere di sentirlo respirare.
